Engineering Services Manager  Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng Department: Engineering Reports to: Principal Engineer

About the role Our client is looking for an Engineering Services Manager to keep its infrastructure services and buildings operational and maintained to the required service standards. You will lead a team of technicians, junior technicians and handymen. You will also be the specialist technical link to the Facilities and Project Managers.

Minimum requirements: National diploma / degree in electrical, mechanical or building services engineering.  Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical engineering. Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilities management. Certified data centre professional (advantageous). Solid technical knowledge of building services, plant and equipment. Experience with planned and reactive maintenance, root cause analysis and work order management. Ability to write technical specifications and evaluate proposals for new plant and equipment. Valid driver's licence (Code B Driver’s License).

Key responsibilities: Ensure infrastructure services are maintained and operational to the specified service standards. Maintain the availability of assets and buildings in line with specified standards. Support the planned maintenance programme so that business continuity is maintained with minimum downtime. Proactively manage the maintenance process and identify potential equipment or asset failures before they occur. Identify assets that are at end of life or need upgrading, for consideration in capital investment plans. Investigate plant and equipment failures to establish the root cause and recommend corrective actions. Provide recommendations and, where necessary, oversight of reactive maintenance work, ensuring it is carried out as per the work order or specification and to the required quality standard. Approve proposals for new plant and equipment and provide specifications for their supply and installation in line with the client's standards and good engineering practice, especially where no standard exists. Provide specialist technical knowledge and expertise to facilities and project Managers, including supervision of works where necessary. Lead, supervise and develop the technicians, junior technicians and handymen.
